Why Homestead Skills Matter

In a world that moves increasingly fast and digital, we believe students benefit from learning the timeless rhythms of the land.

The Unbridled Homestead Economics course gives students the opportunity to learn real-life skills that build confidence, responsibility, and independence.

Throughout the year students will learn:

• how to grow and harvest food
• how to prepare meals from scratch
• how to care for animals
• how to sew, bake, preserve, and create
• how small farms operate
• how to work together as a team

This program is designed to cultivate capable young people who understand the value of hard work and stewardship.

What Students Will Learn

Animal Care
Feeding routines, egg collection, goat care, farm chores.

Food Preservation
Canning, dehydrating, and storing seasonal foods.

Gardening
Soil health, planting, harvesting, and seasonal crops.

Textile Skills
Sewing, crochet, mending, handmade goods.

Baking & Meal Preparation
Bread making, scratch cooking, and kitchen skills.

Entrepreneurship
Students help operate the Unbridled Farmstand.

A Typical Friday:

10:00 AM
Morning Gathering
Announcements and overview of the day.

10:20 AM
Farm Chores Rotation
Students participate in real farm responsibilities.

10:50 AM
Skill Lesson
Hands-on instruction in the monthly focus skill.

12:00 PM
Lunch Break

12:30 PM
Project Work
Students apply what they learned through projects.

1:15 PM
Farmstand Preparation
Preparing products and setting up the stand.

2:00 PM
Dismissal

Farmstand Entrepreneurship

Students will also participate in running the Unbridled Farmstand. As well as having opportunities to sell at local markets.

They will learn:

• pricing products
• packaging goods
• customer interaction
• simple bookkeeping
• farm business basics

This gives students real-world business experience while supporting the farm. Students are encouraged to take what they learn and make products they can sell at the farmstand.

Tuition

Monthly: $125

Registration fee: $75 (includes T-shirt)

Fall Semester (August–Dec):
$600 paid in full

Spring Semester (Jan–May):
$600 paid in full

Full Year:
$1200

Includes all supplies for the year.
