Horsemanship Rooted in Relationship

“Horses think in pictures, respond through feeling, and teach us to pay attention.”

Horsemanship

Our Weekly Horsemanship Program is the heart of what we do at Unbridled TN.

This not a traditional riding lesson program. While riding is certainly part of the journey, horsemanship here begins long before a foot enters a stirrup. We focus on relationship, awareness, responsibility, and understanding the horse as a whole being. Students spend time:

  • Learning herd dynamics and observation

  • Understanding equine behavior and communication

  • Developing groundwork skills in open fields (not just arenas)

  • Building confidence, leadership, and emotional regulation

  • Caring for and connecting with the horses before riding

Our approach is immersive and relational. We work outdoors, often in open pasture, which creates a different level of awareness and partnership than confined arena work. This environment encourages students to become thoughtful, grounded horsewomen and horsemen who can adapt, observe, and lead with clarity.

Each class meets students where they are. Whether beginner or experienced rider, horsemanship is a lifelong skill set, and previous riding experience does not always translate to a true partnership with a horse.

What Makes This Different?

  • Small group sizes

  • 90-min. sessions

  • Emphasis on character and responsibility

  • A focus on feel, timing, and communication

  • Open fields and trail work

  • Community-centered, encouraging environment

  • A slower, deeper approach to learning

This program is ideal for individuals and families who value depth over speed and character over competition.

If you are looking for a place where you or your child can grow in confidence, awareness, and stewardship, both in and out of the saddle, we would love to welcome you.

Adult Intro to Horsemanship Session
$125.00

Whether you are completely new to horses, returning after years away, working through fear or confidence barriers, or simply longing for a deeper connection and understanding, our Intro to Adult Horsemanship sessions are designed to meet you where you are.

This is not a traditional riding lesson focused only on performance or arena work. At Unbridled TN, horsemanship begins long before riding. We believe true confidence comes from understanding the horse, learning to communicate clearly, and building trust through relationship and awareness.

During your session, you may experience:

• Learning how horses communicate and respond
• Understanding herd dynamics and equine behavior
• Groundwork and connection exercises in open pasture
• Building confidence, calmness, and body awareness
• Developing feel, timing, and leadership skills
• Learning how to safely handle, groom, and prepare horses

Our approach is immersive, relational, and intentionally slower paced. We work outdoors in open fields and on trails rather than in confined arenas, creating space for students to become more grounded, observant, and connected both with the horse and with themselves.

This session is ideal for adults who:

• Are brand new to horses
• Feel nervous or intimidated around horses
• Want to rebuild confidence after a past experience
• Desire a more natural and relationship-based approach
• Have riding experience but want to deepen communication and understanding
• Simply want a fresh start and a different kind of horsemanship experience

What Makes This Different?

• Private or small-group environment
• 90-minute immersive sessions
• Relaxed, encouraging atmosphere
• Focus on communication over competition
• Emphasis on nervous system regulation and awareness
• A deeper approach to partnership and stewardship

You do not need prior experience to begin.

If you are wondering whether horses might have something to teach you, or if you are looking for a place to slow down, reconnect, and grow in confidence, we would love to welcome you to the farm.

Adult sessions are first-come, first-served on Thursdays, 8:00 am-9:30 am; 6:00 pm-7:30 pm. Saturdays (Beginning in June) 8:00 am-9:30 am.

• Horsemanship, archery, & art rotations
• Outdoor exploration & nature study
• Faith-based, encouraging environment
• Ages 6–14
• All experience levels welcome

This is a slower, more intentional approach to summer, one rooted in confidence, stewardship, creativity, and meaningful connection.
