What Sets Our Camps Apart

A Whole-Brain, Whole-Child Approach
By engaging the brain and nervous system in different ways, horsemanship, archery, and art work together to foster emotional regulation, focus, creativity, and confidence.

Horsemanship

  • Builds emotional regulation through co-regulation with horses

  • Develops body awareness, confidence, and calm leadership

  • Encourages connection, empathy, and presence

  • Teaches responsibility, boundaries, and non-verbal communication

Horses respond to what we feel, not just what we do, making horsemanship a powerful tool for self-awareness and emotional maturity at every age.

Art

Activates the creative and emotional centers of the brain

  • Improves emotional expression and stress regulation

  • Enhances problem-solving and flexible thinking

  • Encourages identity exploration and confidence

Art gives children and teens a voice beyond words. It integrates emotion, imagination, and cognition, helping them process experiences and express who they are becoming.

Archery

Strengthens executive function (focus, impulse control, goal-setting)

  • Supports neural pathway development through repetition and precision

  • Builds patience, discipline, and frustration tolerance

  • Encourages stillness, breath control, and intentional action

Archery teaches students how to slow down, focus their attention, and execute with purpose; skills that directly transfer to academics, athletics, and life.

Ages & Learning Focus

  • This age is all about felt safety, curiosity, and learning how to regulate big emotions.

At UnbridledTN, our youngest campers are gently guided through experiences that help them build confidence, emotional awareness, and trust; in themselves, others, and their environment.

How the camp supports this age:

    • Horsemanship helps children learn emotional regulation through calm, guided interaction with horses, building confidence and empathy.

    • Archery develops focus and body awareness in a playful, low-pressure way, strengthening attention and self-control.

    • Art gives children a safe outlet to express feelings, imagination, and creativity without the need for words.

    • Nature exploration encourages curiosity, resilience, and joy through movement, discovery, and hands-on learning.

    • Bible study focuses on identity, kindness, and God’s care, helping children understand they are seen, known, and loved.

This age group leaves camp feeling capable, grounded, and excited to learn.

  • This stage bridges childhood and adolescence; a time of rapid brain development, emotional shifts, and growing independence.

Our middle group is intentionally supported as they learn to manage emotions, strengthen focus, and develop a sense of responsibility and identity.

How the camp supports this age:

    • Horsemanship teaches leadership, accountability, and emotional self-awareness as campers learn how their mindset impacts their horse.

    • Archery strengthens executive function—goal-setting, patience, perseverance, and follow-through.

    • Art supports emotional processing and identity exploration, offering creative freedom during a highly transitional phase.

    • Outdoor exploration builds resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving through challenges and shared experiences.

    • Bible study emphasizes character, purpose, and trust in God during seasons of growth and change.

Campers leave with increased confidence, focus, and a stronger sense of who they are becoming.

  • This age is about autonomy, identity formation, and purpose; learning how to integrate skills, values, and self-awareness into real-life leadership.

Our oldest campers are invited into deeper responsibility, reflection, and skill mastery while being supported in a safe, grounded environment.

How the camp supports this age:

    • Horsemanship deepens leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and boundary-setting through advanced horse-human connection.

    • Archery reinforces mental discipline, stress management, and intentional decision-making under pressure.

    • Art provides a reflective outlet for self-expression, identity integration, and creative problem-solving.

    • Outdoor exploration fosters independence, resilience, and confidence through physical challenge and navigation.

    • Bible study invites meaningful discussion around calling, stewardship, and faith-led decision-making.

This group leaves camp with a clearer sense of purpose, stronger self-regulation, and leadership skills they carry into adulthood.

Child Safety is Our Top Priority

Every staff member and volunteer on our farm is required to have a background check on file; no exceptions.

A Note on Human Flourishing

Our camp design is deeply aligned with findings from the Global Human Flourishing Study, a long-term research initiative exploring what truly helps humans thrive across cultures.

One of the study’s most consistent findings is the importance of connectedness to:

  • Meaning and purpose

  • Faith and values

  • Nature

  • Community and relationships

UnbridledTN Summer Camps intentionally foster these connections through:

  • Faith-based reflection

  • Shared challenges and teamwork

  • Immersion in nature

  • Skill-building that requires presence and perseverance

Flourishing doesn’t come from overstimulation or performance pressure; it grows in spaces where children feel safe, seen, challenged, and connected.
